As Cognizant had not called me yet, I was desperately trying to while away my time.. It was so boring that I started watching the test between Rest Of India versus Delhi in the finals of the Irani Trophy. At stumps on the second day ROI were comfortably placed with a lead of 174 runs with 9 wickets remaining. Dravid had scored 33 of some 110 deliveries and Badrinath 33 from 70 deliveries.. Both were unbeaten. Suddenly my thoughts went to who s de best batsman in India.. I compared their batting with our life.. If u find my opinion wayward please dont mind :)
First I thought about M.S.Dhoni and Sehwag.. They are power hitters and can easily carry the game away from the opposition.. You can watch their batting for their sheer brilliance and power. We derive joy and immense pleasure watching their styles. Their batting is like a 3 hour movie which can lift your spirits. Dhoni is better than Sehwag in the sense he has won many matches for India and played commendably in crunchers.
Next to come into my mind were Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S.Laxman. Their batting has a distinct flair and a touch of elegance which a very few in the cricketing fraternity possess. Their batting under the pressure of being dropped is enviable and their cool nature after being dropped can definitely be emulated. More than that they have always come back strongly with their bat doing all the talking. This s quite inspirational especially when we are in some depressing situations. And Ganguly deserves greater credit for forming the most formidable Indian Cricket team ever.
Next is "The Wall" Dravid. Thinking of the number of matches he has won for India, i get goose bumps.. The ever dependable and the most under rated warrior of Indian cricket. Cool and composed, he is definitely worth following. Suppose if God comes to me when I am dying and asks "If one player from this bunch hits a century I will spare you" , then I will definitely go for Rahul Dravid. We can bet our lives on him. Such is his consistency and reliability.
Next in line is the "God Of Indian Cricket" Sachin Tendulkar. He has such a distinct charisma over him. The way he bats is definitely like a treat to the viewer. The way he carries himself with such humility after such success is something that all should learn while we are at the pinnacle of glory. If God comes when am dying and asks "You have liven to a ripe old age of 100 years :). Die happily. But before that watch a video of a cricketer happily." Then I will definitely go for the Master. Such is his dominance over cricket that he has overshadowed Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman put together. :) What a man!!!
So I'd like to conclude in terms of mathematics.. ;)
Sachin > Dravid > Ganguly > Laxman > Dhoni > Sehwag.
Dhoni has a chance to climb up the ladder since he has lotta cricket left in him.
These are just my "THOUGHTS". Such thoughts arise when a person is experiencing the peak of boredom. But I think u ll agree with my thoughts. What say?
With Love,
Vignesh.
